All About Ceramic Lights
Why Ceramic? A Material That Earns Its Place
Fired to Last: Every Naaya light is hand-thrown or hand-sculpted from natural clay and fired at over 1,000°C. The result is a material that resists heat, humidity and ageing — ceramic lighting does not fade, warp or discolour over time the way fabric, resin or painted metal does. A ceramic pendant bought today looks identical in ten years.
Light That Sculpts: Ceramic is naturally opaque and dense. Unlike glass or fabric shades that diffuse light evenly in all directions, ceramic directs light — downward for task lighting, sideways through cut or perforated forms for dramatic shadow play, or warmly from within for ambient glow. The material does not just hold light; it shapes it. This is why ceramic pendant lights photograph so distinctively and why they hold visual weight in a room that thinner materials cannot
Made by Hand, Every One: No two Naaya pieces are identical. Each light is hand-thrown on a pottery wheel or hand-sculpted by our ceramic artists in Bengaluru, India — variations in surface texture, clay tone and form are inherent to the process and celebrated, not corrected. This is what separates handmade ceramic lighting from mass-produced alternatives: the object carries the evidence of its making, and that is precisely what gives it presence in a room.
