All About Ceramic Lights

Why Choose Ceramic Ceiling Lights?

Ceramic ceiling lights are the perfect choice for homeowners and designers seeking a blend of functionality, craftsmanship, and sustainability. Unlike plastic or mass-produced metal fixtures, each ceramic piece is handcrafted with care, giving it timeless character and long-lasting durability. Naaya Studio’s ceiling lights are made from natural clay bodies: terracotta, light terracotta (natural), milky white, and off white bringing warmth and authenticity into your interiors. With more than fifteen painted finishes, you can adapt them to rustic, coastal, or modern spaces. Beyond aesthetics, ceramic is naturally heat resistant, eco-friendly, and sustainable, making it a responsible choice for today’s homes. The soft diffusion of light through ceramic creates an inviting atmosphere that other materials struggle to replicate. 👉 Choosing ceramic means investing in a unique, eco-conscious fixture that will last for years while enhancing the beauty of your home.

Making Sure the Lamps Do Not Jut Out of the Shade

A common concern with flush mount ceiling lights is whether the bulb will extend below the shade. For many buyers, this is a strict no, and we completely understand. The good news is that with the right design and proportion, this effect can be minimized or avoided entirely. As a guideline, a 5.5-inch high shade will typically hide 80–90% of standard bulbs (up to G80 types). The visibility of the bulb depends on three main factors: 1.Overall Height of Bulb + Socket In Assembled condition– Compare the combined height of the bulb and socket with the shade height. 2.Indent at the Top – Most flush mounts have an internal recess for fittings, which positions the socket slightly lower. Make sure you add this recess depth to you bulb and socket assembly height 3.Shade Diameter – Smaller diameters (around 8 inches or less) make bulbs more noticeable, while wider shades reduce the effect significantly.

Types of Ceiling Lights: Flush, Semi-Flush and Suspended

There are mainly 3 styles of ceiling lights, each suited to different room layouts and ceiling heights. Understanding these options helps you select the right fit: Flush Mount Ceiling Lights These fixtures sit directly against the ceiling, they are absolutely flush mount, the body of the shade touches the ceiling and top of the shade covers the mounting hole, while choosing these kind of ceiling lights make sure that the top of the light fixture diameter / minimum size covers the power outlet hole in the ceiling (All Naaya flush mount lights have approx. 6 inch or more diameter at top to make sure they cover the junction box hole). These flush mount ceiling lights are often the most compact in height making them ideal for rooms with low ceilings. They provide clear, uniform light without taking up vertical space. Flush mounts are perfect for hallways, bedrooms, and kitchens where practicality is key. Semi-Flush Mount Ceiling Lights Semi-flush lights generally have a mounting plate between the shade and the ceiling, acting as an adapter between ceiling and the shade. In this case any of the lights can be adapted to the ceiling. While choosing this light make sure that you do not choose fixtures that are too wide at the top. A wide top fixture makes it difficult to reach the mounting screws (often on the side of mounting plate) and makes is difficult to install the lights. Also keep in mind that these fixtures over all height increases by the mounting plate thickness after installation. Most of the Naaya Pendent lights can be converted to semi flush mounts. Suspended Ceiling Lights Suspended designs are the ones that are attached through the mounting plate, however they have a additional metal stem (1–2 inch length) between the mounting plate and the shade. This stem makes them taller than any other ceiling light type. Do consider the ceiling height while choosing these types of Lamps. 👉 Each type of ceiling light serves a purpose, from compact functionality to bold style, ensuring there’s a perfect option for every room

This allows you to create both decorative effects and highly functional lighting in the same fixture. 👉 With such variety, ceramic ceiling lights become a seamless extension of your décor, adapting to both contemporary and traditional spaces.

Care and Maintenance

Ceramic ceiling lights are naturally low-maintenance. A simple, regular dusting is usually enough to keep them clean. ⚠️ Important: Never use sticky tapes on the surface of the lamp—whether matte or painted—as they can permanently damage the finish. For stains on matte surfaces, clean gradually rather than trying to remove them in one step. Use mild soap water and a clean white cloth, gently wiping the surface and letting it dry before repeating if necessary. Avoid aggressive scrubbing, as this can harm the finish. It’s normal for clay to appear darker when wet; it will return to its original color once dry. For deeper cleaning, a slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Always avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals to preserve both the painted finishes and the natural clay body. Installation Flush and semi-flush ceiling lights must be installed by a qualified electrician. Please caution them against using tape on the surface of the lamp for markings, as this may damage the finish. Also, remind your installer that ceramic fixtures are heavier than standard lights and must be secured properly—either on the junction box or directly into wooden studs beneath a false ceiling, and never fixed on plasterboard alone without reinforcement. For added protection, we recommend keeping the wrapper on the lamp until the final installation is complete, whenever possible. Frequently Asked Questions Can I use dimmable bulbs? Yes. All Naaya Studio ceiling lights are compatible with dimmable bulbs, allowing you to control brightness and mood. Which bulb is best for ceramic ceiling lights? We suggest warm-toned LED bulbs (2700K–3000K) for optimal comfort, efficiency, and long life. Are ceiling lights suitable for low ceilings? Absolutely. Flush mount designs are specifically made for standard or low ceilings, ensuring safe clearance and ample illumination. 👉 With proper installation and simple care, Naaya Studio ceramic ceiling lights will provide lasting functionality and timeless beauty, making them a smart and sustainable choice for your home.
